Data

Charles Kitchen and his first wife, Christiana Remer, were married on October 20, 1833.

Abraham Kitchin

Born:
July 23, 1834
Clinton County, PA

Died: August 12, 1862
Bellevue Hospital, New York, of wounds received during the fighting at Gaines Mill, VA. He was a Sergeant with Co. D, 7th Reserve Infantry of the 36th Pennsylvania Regiment. My source for his death came from the family Bible and the Clinton County newspapers. Other sources indicate that he died at Gaines Mill and was buried in Meade Station, VA, in the 9th Army Corps Cemetery, which seems more logical.

Elias Kitchin

Born:
July 20, 1836
Clinton County, PA

Died: January 29, 1837
Clinton County, PA

Charles Henry Kitchin

Born:
November 15, 1837
Clinton County, PA

Died: May 27, 1863
Near Newberry, Lycoming County, PA

Henry Kitchin was a minister with the Methodist Episcopal Church. He did not enlist during the Civil War and chaplains were not used by the Union forces until the year after his death. Location of his death was found in an obituary notice in the Clinton County (PA) Democrat, dated April 14, 1864. The date of death shown in the paper was different from the one I used, which was in the family Bible.

Elizabeth Kitchin

Born:
March 5, 1840
Clinton County, PA

Married: Mr. Zimmerman; date unknown

Died: March 25, 1859
Aged 19 years and 20 days
