Surnames: Grim, Smith
GERMAN
Information
passed down through the generations says that the first German family
arrivals in North America were 2 brothers who came from France, one
to Maryland and the other to Pennsylvania, settling in the Philadelphia
area. Additional verbal information is that the name was originally
St. Germaine. There may be some truth to this as distant cousins have
the same information. If true, at some point the name was anglicized.
